Reflection

What our group did for our PBL is create a video to raise awareness about homelessness and poverty. At first we planned to ask people to bring a can and we will donate it to the CityMission. We consulted Mr. Rogers about our plan but we were told that we aren't allowed to. We weren't allowed to because other too much people have asked to do the exact same thing. After we were told to change our action, we came up with the idea of making a video. We were successful in making the video as we had planned on how the video will flow.

I can say that we have achieved our goals because we have successfully posted the video on social media and people have watched it. I think that this shows that we were able to raise awareness about homelessness. We were also able to inform people on some facts about homeless people.

Evaluation

Our PBL impacted the lives of others because of a number of reasons. Those who aren't homeless have been informed on some facts about homelessness and poverty. They have also been informed on who they can contact in order for them to be able to help those in need. As for those who are homeless, they have higher chances of getting help or donations from other people because we have helped spread awareness about homelessness.

One thing that we can do differently next time is that we can think of other ways to help those in need. For example we can volunteer to organisations that help the homeless and other people. We can also broaden those that will be helped by asking help from a larger number of people.

My thoughts on doing PBL is that it was a new experience. Doing the action was fun and very unique. The fact that we came up with our own idea that will be able to help other people made me really proud of myself as I was able to help other people in a way.

One thing I learnt about myself throughout the process of doing the PBL was that I'm really lucky. I'm really lucky that I don't have to experience things which less fortunate people are experiencing. I'm also learnt that I should be thankful for what I have because other people don't have the same privileges as I do and I should be thankful for that.

Reflection

For what we could've done better, I think that we could've included more people into the video. We could've included other people's opinion about the topic. We could've also thought of a different way to be able to help those in need.

What I felt about working in my group. It was really fun and really mind opening. We all learnt about how lucky we are. It was fun because we all came up with different ideas and we all started to know each other more. By contributing ideas, we learned how one person wants to do things and what their thoughts are on some things.

PBL Part 3 - Logs

Date: 28 / 11 Rang City Mission, as a result I was forwarded to the person in charge of volunteering but the person didn’t pick up, I then left a message telling them to email back when they get the message. It really helped us that there was a phone in the English Room as we may not have been able to make the call if the phone wasn’t there. It really didn’t help that no one answered about the volunteering. When no one answered, we came up with the idea of asking people to  “Bring a can” and we were gonna ask Mr. Rogers if we are allowed to do so.

Date:  28/11 We had a meeting with the other people who are involved in our group and we all came up with different ideas and came up with the idea of volunteering with the City Mission in order to help the homeless.

Date:  1/12 We went to Mr. Rogers and asked if we could ask people to bring cans to donate to the City Mission to help with the homeless. But we weren’t allowed as other people has already asked to do the same thing. When we weren’t allowed to do the “Bring a Can” we came up with the idea of creating a video informing people about the homeless, some facts about them and who can we contact in order to help the homeless.

Date: 5/12 Started making the plan on what to say on the video, researched some facts and some organisations that people can contact in order to help the homeless. After that we started finalizing how to video will flow. Something that helped us is the chromebooks which helped us research facts about the homeless and find organisations to contact in order to help the homeless in need.

Date: 5/12 Started to film the video and everything went well. After the video has been filmed. I started to edit the video and make final changes such as removing errors that we have done while filming the video (e.g. saying the wrong thing/not remembering what to say). Us having how the video will go planned out really helped as we only needed to make minor changes and the video proceeded accordingly and smoothly. We then published it on social media
